Benina Montes
The Achievement Award competition judges the operating efficiency of young farmers and ranchers and is based on leadership, creativity and proven success.
Congratulations to Benina Montes of Merced County! Montes was named 2009 Achievement Award winner during the California Farm Bureau Federation's 91st Annual Meeting in Anaheim. The award recognizes Montes for her farm management skills, leadership quality and service to Farm Bureau and her community.
Montes is a 4th generation food producer, farming almonds in Merced County. She has 950 acres of almonds with 120 in transition to become organic. She serves on the Board of Directors for Merced County Farm Bureau and is involved in California Women for Agriculture, the Agribusiness Committee of Merced County and the Merced County Young Farmers and Ranchers. When she's not busy farming or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, brewing beer, fishing and playing softball. Benina and her husband Heriberto were married in 2009 and make their home in California's Central Valley.
