Rustici Livestock and Rangeland Scholarship

The Rustici scholarships are given to students who intend to pursue a career with a focus on rangeland management, with an emphasis towards cattle and sheep ranching in conjunction with good rangeland practices. Ideal candidates are those who will take over the family ranch and work to improve rangeland conditions as a natural resource.

Awards are also given to those who are studying for a career that benefits the beef cattle or sheep industry or rangeland management by working directly with landowners to enhance rangeland resources.

  1. Awards will be limited to applicants intending to pursue studies in cattle or sheep ranching with a focus on rangeland management.
  2. Priority will be given to students who plan to return to the family ranch.
  3. The applicant must write an essay of 500 words or less in which he/she explains why he/she has chosen the field of beef cattle or sheep ranching, or range management; the goals he/she has set forth; and how past, present and future activities make the accomplishment of these goals possible.
  4. Student must average 15 units per semester/quarter in college. Units earned in other semesters of the same academic year may be used to reach the average. Students must also maintain a C average.
  5. Applicants are to use the same application forms and follow the application procedures established for the scholarship program of the Foundation.
  6. Grade point average above C is required but grades are not a primary award criteria.
